Client Spotlight: February
Feb 03, 2025This month, we would like to showcase our client Daniel, who has truly immersed himself in a DNA-based approach to nutrition and has big plans for 2025.
About Me:
In March 2022, I joined a local gym after reaching 17 stone (238 lbs) at 35% body fat and 5’8”. Although I’d been active since my teens, aiming for the Royal Marines before switching to carpentry, my training and nutrition fell behind once my career took off. Since 2022, I’ve reignited my passion for natural bodybuilding and plan to compete in my first UK contest later this year.
My Experience:
In late 2024, I met Gabriela and the Perform Nutrigenetics team at a sports expo at the NEC, Birmingham. I’d always used a trial-and-error approach to nutrition, but wanted deeper insights—especially as a natural athlete focused on health, longevity, and strength. While bloodwork is common in fitness circles (particularly for those on PEDs), I was drawn to exploring my genetic foundations to discover and address any missing pieces or deficiencies.
The Value:
Understanding your DNA and the foods that support your training goals was the first value I discovered. The second was gaining insights into any nutrient deficiencies and learning how to elevate meals to an athlete’s standard with Gabriela’s guidance. The third value involved moving away from the negative perception that bodybuilding culture often has of “chicken and rice” meals.
As a data-oriented person who wants to learn and flex my creativity with meal preparation, to avoid being overly restricted or bored. I wanted to eat the foods my body needs to recover, build muscle, and progress toward an elite level of training. Throughout this process, I shared my ideas and thoughts about potential meal additions, and Gabriela kept me on track, backed by the latest nutritional research. She guided me toward strategies for navigating the shifting demands athletes experience closer to competition, when every calorie matters.
Now, I feel I have the knowledge to excel with confidence and to champion a whole-food, health-led approach before considering supplements. It really is true what they say: simplify the complex to set yourself up for long-term success.
